Lovely prompt Willow, apologies, no 12 is my this weeks magpie tale, number 11 brings you to last weeks, I am not sure if you can delete that link, Thanks.
What an inspiring photo! I cant wait to write about it. How do so many people just whip something out in a day's time like its no big deal? What talent found here!
I've always been prone to contrive scenerios of lives behind the windows of houses as I pass. Maybe that is because I moved around so much both as a child and an adult.
Okay, girls are allowed to change their minds, right? I didn't see this cool bird background last week when I was redecorating. I think it's perfect for Magpie. If you don't like it, hey, don't worry. I change things around. A lot.
Willow - I was unaware of the history of Willow Manor or the river close by. So, yes it is very strange! How my poem ended... Was unaware at the start of where the feeling your picture evoked would take me.
Hello everyone. This is my first time here and I'm excited to join you. There are so many posts and I am sure I'll be inspired (and intimidated, which is why I didn't read any of your work before posting mine!).
I do the same as Lydia....I don't read anyone's work until mine is finished. I like to start with a totally clean slate and let the ideas fall out of those rusty filing cabinets in my mind. BTW, I love this photo.
Oh, this place just begs for a story! I'm going to let my thoughts brew for a while. This mag seems really popular... 60 participants by Saturday. Must be an inspiring prompt!
Willow I got started on this one and could not stop. I love these quaint little photos you put up they just awaken such feeling in my cynical old heart. blessings. QMM
This is my first try at a Magpie Tale. Thank you Willow, and one of the best parts is reading all of the different creative voices who tell such different tales in stories and poetic verse. Thank you.
I'm so sorry for being late with my first Magpie Tale. I have been following for a while now and this one particularly caught my eye, reminding me of a visit I made in the early 90's.
Hey, no problem, late posters! Jump on in, the water's fine! The only problem with posting late, is that you might not get the number of readers your post deserves. Better late than never, I always say!
Home from a lovely week in northern Minnesota! Good to know late posters are welcome. Comments are (thankfully) not the reason I write ... I love the challenge and the way you force my brain to work. ps ... I don't consider myself a writer and feel privileged to be part of this!

I love this prompt, yet couldn't find a way to end my story. I suppose I am too sleepy.
ReplyDeleteA brooding picture, but I hope that's a welcome light in the window...

ReplyDeleteI love this place - a real doll's house. The old fella deserted his family and tropical island - turned up at night, hope that's OK.
ReplyDeleteBrigid, don't worry, I'll fix your 11/12 thing!
ReplyDeleteLeo, yes, it's the back porch at Willow Manor.

ReplyDeletealright i am up! happy weekend everyone!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to leave a linky at the bottom of my story!! Oh NOooooo. Which has been taken care of now.
ReplyDeleteIf I read the other submissions before writing my own, I would be too timid to attempt it, so I start writing long before I even SEE the photo!!
I believe that every good story works with any good photo! All art relates in the end!!
What a great picture Hope you all enjoy my tale.
ReplyDeleteNow I can start to read and enjoy what everyone else has written

ReplyDeleteThis is a very inspiring photo, Willow. So I’m in with A Wee Cottage in the Wood.
ReplyDeleteHi Willow,
ReplyDeleteYou've induced a cool canopy of memories.
Thanks Willow!
ReplyDeleteI was reminded of my recent visit to my childhood home. How tiny, and old, and dilapidated it now looks. Sometimes you really can't go back!
ReplyDeleteRick
PS: Not to say the photo of THIS home is tiny, old, and dilapidated!!
ReplyDelete;)
I would know what happens in that cottage.
ReplyDeleteLate to the party, I see most of the food is gone, most guests have left. I've had a mental flat tire and wasn't sure I'd make it.
ReplyDeleteI ended up getting a bit away from the actual picture. I guess I just have a taste for the rundown.
ReplyDeleteHi I'm finally here!
ReplyDeletehttp://comedygoddess.blogspot.com/2010/08/cottage.html
I'm in! Looking forward to some magpie tales!
ReplyDeleteThis wasn't as easy as I first thought when I saw the picture...but I love a challenge.
