Are you tweaking the schedule again? I was just about to write a terribly profound essay on the green house, but I see I am too late. I guess I'll ponder this one while I get back to the laundry.
I don't know what I'll write, but I'm already excited about it. That face stands out to me, too. It took me a few seconds to figure out what the object is. Lovely image.
I didn't see the face until others mentioned it. Thanks for the photo. The salt shaker stands out on th black background, like a diamond on black velvet.
I'm ignoring the little holes in the top which make it a prosaic salt shaker and seeing it as a prism, because I have a jewel/prism poem in a trunk in my poetry basement, and this is the perfect occasion to get it out.
I see the face now that you mention it! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all of the love last week!!!! I now am so in LOVE with Magpie Tales!!!! You guys are all very awesome! :o) I will be around to read all of your tales! Hope that everyone had a nice V-Day! :o)
This one presented some difficulty for me. It took four different poems before I got one I like. I guess I should thank you for the challange, Tess, even though I am exhausted.
I saw that nasty little face as well but totally ignored it and wrote a lighthearted piece. In your face, face! http://lolamousedroppings.blogspot.com/2011/02/just-pinch.html
I never read anyone's work until my own is done but I am laughing at how so many people saw the 'face'. I so wanted to do something really science-fictiony but in the end went in a totally different direction. Strange how I can look at the same picture and see creepy crystal face and also see a salt shaker that is missing it's partner........... Always fun! Now I will go read others' offerings!
This week I'm not entirely sure what mine's about...it came from the place my stories come from when my head is too tired to write and my pen does all the work... But at least I'm a little earlier than usual.
I had SO many false starts on this prompt. Finally decided to not be sentimental and combine two things this week as I have been busy with the kids... Makes things a little easier when I have a 55 word limit! Thanks for the prompt.
Joined in late ... didn't find it before ... but boy! did I enjoy this to the hilt? so many poems ...so many new angles .... so many thoughtful perspectives! Simply loved reading all.
Hi Tess... sorry I haven't been by in while...I have been very busy with all that life has been throwing in my direction. Life is slowly returning to some kind of normal now and this means I have a little more time for me!! Yay. Hope alls been well in your world!
Is it me, or do I see faces in everything?

ReplyDeleteYou are not crazy Tess...that shaker's lookin'giving me the stink eye
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, I am a tad early. I normally post Monday night or Tuesday morning. T, you are welcome to post the Green House essay here, if you like!
ReplyDeleteDear Tess: It is the 8th Dimensional Face! What is the cellar saying...sprinkle me?
ReplyDeleteYes, there is a face in there.
ReplyDeleteIt could be a mirage. That's where I went. : )
Short and sweet, this week.
ReplyDeleteWonder how many will come up with the same story I did? {-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the prompt! Great photo, if slightly creepy. My take on it is kind of abstract.
ReplyDeleteMy post is up. Although I saw 'the face' I took a different tack on the subject. Wonderful photo.
ReplyDeletenice...saw rene's and its been a while...thanks for the inspiration...
ReplyDeleteI cannot write something that is truly about the photo. I haven't seen the object yet. I wrote a haiku instead.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see the face until others mentioned it. Thanks for the photo. The salt shaker stands out on th black background, like a diamond on black velvet.
ReplyDeleteTess it was an object that brought hidden feelings out of my brain. Wish that didn't happen to me, but I guess that is more therapeutic.
ReplyDeleteQMM
I'm ignoring the little holes in the top which make it a prosaic salt shaker and seeing it as a prism, because I have a jewel/prism poem in a trunk in my poetry basement, and this is the perfect occasion to get it out.
ReplyDeleteshould I regard this image with a grain of salt or just get a shaking and write?! Very fun photo to write from.( oh geez is that a sentence?)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a wicked little face..therefore, my poem!!
ReplyDeleteI saw what I thought was an angry face, which inspired my poem. Thank you Tess, I'm really enjoying this!
ReplyDeleteAt first I didn't even notice the saltiness of it for the face I saw. And then I wrote, primarily, of salt.
ReplyDeletei love getting new images and having to pause, as i try and wrap my mind around it... such a cool prompt...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous prompt!
ReplyDelete(recognition word : Muskoft!)
Interested to see what this'll bring about.
ReplyDeleteFascinating image, thank you!
ReplyDeleteReally cool image, all dark and shiny like my piece! Thanks Tess for a great prompt.
ReplyDeleteNewbie here. This was fun! Thanks for the prompt!

ReplyDeleteIntriguing subject - I missed the green house but caught this one in time. Must throw a little salt over my shoulder now...
ReplyDeleteAmi, welcome to Magpie Tales. Come in and make yourself at home!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tess, I too saw the face in the picture.
ReplyDeleteLovely piece - I like the angle you've taken it from.
ReplyDeleteI'm a newbie, too. Thoroughly enjoyed the fun of writing to the prompt. (Although I did ignore that menacing face in the salt shaker...)
ReplyDeleteHi, Leslie, welcome!
ReplyDeleteThis was amazing! What fun I had with the prompt! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLike Jim, I didn't see the face first, either. Looks like a kinda evil bird face to me, but I'll stick to the salt inside......!
ReplyDeleteIf you do see faces in objects, I'm in good company! This is quite a challenge. Magpies on Mondays ~~ wonderful way to begin the work week!
ReplyDeleteThis one presented some difficulty for me. It took four different poems before I got one I like. I guess I should thank you for the challange, Tess, even though I am exhausted.
ReplyDeleteI never know what will come out of my pen when I start looking at one of your magpie treasures! Thanks so much for doing this!
ReplyDeleteThis one struck an amazing chord with me. My paternal grandfather was a thief of salt shakers and hearts. At least he stole mine.
ReplyDeleteFifty-two years ago this Thursday. The Ruskin Heights tornado and a sole surviving salt shaker.
ReplyDeleteI had to relate this image to a dramatic discovery. Here's hoping for an embodied spirit.
ReplyDeleteI had so much fun the first time, I reached for the salt shaker again!
ReplyDeleteI saw that nasty little face as well but totally ignored it and wrote a lighthearted piece. In your face, face!

Brilliant photo! Thanks Willow
ReplyDeleteI called my blog roll "Salt of the Earth' when I first started blogging. This fact, and your interesting photo, gave birth to my little poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks for another beautiful prompt!
ReplyDeleteCertainly an eye-catching photo, for sure! But I saw this as a mask, not a salt-shaker...
ReplyDeleteLOVED THIS. Loved everybody's work too!
ReplyDeleteI never read anyone's work until my own is done but I am laughing at how so many people saw the 'face'. ReplyDeleteAlways fun! Now I will go read others' offerings!
I too see weird faces :P
ReplyDeleteFunny how a little space can clear the fog, highlighting faces in a crowd.
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm getting a touch of cold feet, but I shall see what I can do!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting info! Wow!
ReplyDeleteEvil face, that little shaker...
ReplyDeleteWhat a romping ride this was for me, all the way to rhyming Italy!
ReplyDeleteMine has a little different twist.
ReplyDeleteThis week I'm not entirely sure what mine's about...it came from the place my stories come from when my head is too tired to write and my pen does all the work...
ReplyDeleteBut at least I'm a little earlier than usual.
Couldnt resist a second go, the spirit in the bottle made me do it!
ReplyDeleteHad so many beginnings to this, so much potential, in the end I went short and sweet.
ReplyDeleteWowww... this time, the moment I saw the picture,I knew what to write!!
ReplyDeleteLoved this image, Tess... yet again!!
Thanks for this one. I didn't think I was going to, but I really enjoyed it! It's brilliant youare!
ReplyDeleteThis one prompt turned out to be extra fun. And I almost didn't post it because I thought it too "doily lady". You guys are SO creative.
ReplyDeleteI had SO many false starts on this prompt. Finally decided to not be sentimental and combine two things this week as I have been busy with the kids... Makes things a little easier when I have a 55 word limit! Thanks for the prompt.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this one and all the previous ones. I saw the eyes as soon as I looked at the picture! Mine's up - a little earlier this week!
ReplyDeletecool prompt.
ReplyDeleteHappy Writing.
Tess,
ReplyDeleteWanted to get a handle on 'glass', on the item, but was steered to the contents.
And their symbolic possibilities.
Trulyfool
Tess, I had posted a second magpie and blogger or me deleted it, so my most recent entry on the list is my no. 2 attempt.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, Brigid, I removed #79. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Tess and everyone....this one should be really fun and fascinating to see what different take people have on it....thanks Tess! :-)
