  1. Is it me, or do I see faces in everything?

  2. Are you tweaking the schedule again? I was just about to write a terribly profound essay on the green house, but I see I am too late. I guess I'll ponder this one while I get back to the laundry.

  3. I don't know what I'll write, but I'm already excited about it. That face stands out to me, too. It took me a few seconds to figure out what the object is. Lovely image.

  4. You are not crazy Tess...that shaker's lookin'giving me the stink eye

  5. Yes, yes, I am a tad early. I normally post Monday night or Tuesday morning. T, you are welcome to post the Green House essay here, if you like!

  6. Dear Tess: It is the 8th Dimensional Face! What is the cellar saying...sprinkle me?

  7. Yes, there is a face in there.

    It could be a mirage. That's where I went. : )

  8. Wonder how many will come up with the same story I did? {-)

  9. Thanks for the prompt! Great photo, if slightly creepy. My take on it is kind of abstract.

  10. My post is up. Although I saw 'the face' I took a different tack on the subject. Wonderful photo.

  11. nice...saw rene's and its been a while...thanks for the inspiration...

  12. I cannot write something that is truly about the photo. I haven't seen the object yet. I wrote a haiku instead.

  13. I didn't see the face until others mentioned it. Thanks for the photo. The salt shaker stands out on th black background, like a diamond on black velvet.

  14. Tess it was an object that brought hidden feelings out of my brain. Wish that didn't happen to me, but I guess that is more therapeutic.

  15. I'm ignoring the little holes in the top which make it a prosaic salt shaker and seeing it as a prism, because I have a jewel/prism poem in a trunk in my poetry basement, and this is the perfect occasion to get it out.

  16. should I regard this image with a grain of salt or just get a shaking and write?! Very fun photo to write from.( oh geez is that a sentence?)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Definitely a wicked little face..therefore, my poem!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I saw what I thought was an angry face, which inspired my poem. Thank you Tess, I'm really enjoying this!

  19. At first I didn't even notice the saltiness of it for the face I saw. And then I wrote, primarily, of salt.

  20. i love getting new images and having to pause, as i try and wrap my mind around it... such a cool prompt...

  21. Gorgeous prompt!
    (recognition word : Muskoft!)

  22. Interested to see what this'll bring about.

  23. Really cool image, all dark and shiny like my piece! Thanks Tess for a great prompt.

  24. Newbie here. This was fun! Thanks for the prompt!

  26. Intriguing subject - I missed the green house but caught this one in time. Must throw a little salt over my shoulder now...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ami, welcome to Magpie Tales. Come in and make yourself at home!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks Tess, I too saw the face in the picture.

  29. Lovely piece - I like the angle you've taken it from.

  30. I'm a newbie, too. Thoroughly enjoyed the fun of writing to the prompt. (Although I did ignore that menacing face in the salt shaker...)

  31. This was amazing! What fun I had with the prompt! Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Like Jim, I didn't see the face first, either. Looks like a kinda evil bird face to me, but I'll stick to the salt inside......!

    ReplyDelete
  33. If you do see faces in objects, I'm in good company! This is quite a challenge. Magpies on Mondays ~~ wonderful way to begin the work week!

    ReplyDelete
  34. This one presented some difficulty for me. It took four different poems before I got one I like. I guess I should thank you for the challange, Tess, even though I am exhausted.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I never know what will come out of my pen when I start looking at one of your magpie treasures! Thanks so much for doing this!

  36. This one struck an amazing chord with me. My paternal grandfather was a thief of salt shakers and hearts. At least he stole mine.

  37. Fifty-two years ago this Thursday. The Ruskin Heights tornado and a sole surviving salt shaker.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I had to relate this image to a dramatic discovery. Here's hoping for an embodied spirit.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I had so much fun the first time, I reached for the salt shaker again!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I saw that nasty little face as well but totally ignored it and wrote a lighthearted piece. In your face, face!

  41. I called my blog roll "Salt of the Earth' when I first started blogging. This fact, and your interesting photo, gave birth to my little poem.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks for another beautiful prompt!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Certainly an eye-catching photo, for sure! But I saw this as a mask, not a salt-shaker...

    ReplyDelete
  44. LOVED THIS. Loved everybody's work too!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I never read anyone's work until my own is done but I am laughing at how so many people saw the 'face'. I so wanted to do something really science-fictiony but in the end went in a totally different direction. Strange how I can look at the same picture and see creepy crystal face and also see a salt shaker that is missing it's partner...........
Always fun! Now I will go read others' offerings!

  46. Funny how a little space can clear the fog, highlighting faces in a crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow! I'm getting a touch of cold feet, but I shall see what I can do!

    ReplyDelete
  48. What a romping ride this was for me, all the way to rhyming Italy!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Mine has a little different twist.

    ReplyDelete
  50. This week I'm not entirely sure what mine's about...it came from the place my stories come from when my head is too tired to write and my pen does all the work...
But at least I'm a little earlier than usual.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Couldnt resist a second go, the spirit in the bottle made me do it!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Had so many beginnings to this, so much potential, in the end I went short and sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Wowww... this time, the moment I saw the picture,I knew what to write!!
Loved this image, Tess... yet again!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thanks for this one. I didn't think I was going to, but I really enjoyed it! It's brilliant youare!

    ReplyDelete
  55. This one prompt turned out to be extra fun. And I almost didn't post it because I thought it too "doily lady". You guys are SO creative.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I had SO many false starts on this prompt. Finally decided to not be sentimental and combine two things this week as I have been busy with the kids... Makes things a little easier when I have a 55 word limit! Thanks for the prompt.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thank you for this one and all the previous ones. I saw the eyes as soon as I looked at the picture! Mine's up - a little earlier this week!

  58. Tess,

Wanted to get a handle on 'glass', on the item, but was steered to the contents.

    And their symbolic possibilities.

  59. Tess, I had posted a second magpie and blogger or me deleted it, so my most recent entry on the list is my no. 2 attempt.
