There's been some recent discussion about possibly posting more than one Magpie photo prompt per week. After weighing the options, I've decided to keep it at just one, for now. Since the photos certainly lend to more than one interpretation, those of you who would like to post more than one Magpie Tale per week, are most welcome to do so. Write on, my friends!
Well, I posted mine in everyone, right after willow's. I'm going a bit short and sweet today. Maybe I may do another Magpie soon. I may even put a drawing in my Magpie who knows?
ReplyDeleteWillow: thanks for the idea of multiple Magpie entries.
Good day everyone. I modified a post I wrote a couple of hours ago but not that much. Seems my brain and Willow are on the same page. I hope you all have had a great Wednesday. Love, love, love, Magpie. Thanks Willow. Love and Light, Sender

ReplyDeleteYour exquisite photo prompt was posted at Magpie Tales one day after I posted what I think is a suitable poem, which seems altogether prescient so I am cheating a little bit!
ReplyDeleteHi -- I've only tried this once before, then I missed a week, but now I've got this meme in Blogs I Follow, so maybe following will lead to remembering.
ReplyDeleteKay, Alberta, Canada
Argh! I'm actually in the middle of writing something that would be perfect for this... but there's no way I'll get it done in time.
ReplyDeleteWillow! What'd I tell you about consulting my imaginary clock???
Another brilliant prompt!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great prompt but I decided on romantic instead of spooky!
ReplyDeleteNot easy to write anything on tombstones on the spur of the moment.
ReplyDeleteOld cemetaries always inspire me and this one reminds me of otherse I've visited in places too many to count.
ReplyDeleteToday's poem was actually written about 3 years ago and honors the passing of one too young. The 3rd anniversary of his death is rapidly approaching. George was 27 and just newly married when he was lost to us.
Good choice, Willow. I have a hard time keeping up with one prompt per week! But, oh, how I enjoy the one...
ReplyDeletewow- what an image- it got to me.
ReplyDeleteWillow,
ReplyDeleteGreat prompt! My story Framescape is not quite ready for this prompt so I will pull myself away from my story and work on something new instead. Who know where this all will lead. I certainly never do! Happy Halloween (in a few days).
Warm wishes,
Kristen
I loved this prompt - it fits beautifully with my current work on postmemory (Marianne Hirsch's writings). I really enjoyed writing this one... Thank you to SenderUpWords for pointing me here ...
ReplyDeleteI found myself drawn to the year 1858 on the stone and looking up historical events on the year of Julia's death.
ReplyDeleteBusy year, the extinction of the Cape Lion just seemed the most poetic.
A graveyard scene? Bet you can guess, willow, which graveyard scene I chose. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlas, poor Yorick!
ReplyDeleteGreat image for this week!
ReplyDeleteHere's another gravestone poem from me this week!! And Halloween really has nothing to do with it!! Lol!

ReplyDeleteHi Friends,

ReplyDeleteThe irony of this is I have a daughter named Julia. Now it looks to me like the tombstone says Julia. Thank goodness mine is still alive and healthy. That is just what came to mind.

ReplyDeleteDear Willow,
ReplyDeleteMine is a repost, and I apologize for that. But I have some dear friends who could really benefit from reading this essay as their mother is nearing the end of her life.

One gets so busy, and then Willow gives us
ReplyDeletemultiple places to comment, blossoming
two blog sites into a hot bed of poetic
fellowship. This Halloween prompt has
garnered 126 responses; another boffo
magpie, and this one from the family
plot methinks. At the ball, I wandered
off behind the stable, after having a chat
with Mr. Ed, and stumbled over a small
manor cemetery, so old that it may
predate the manor. I was feeling no pain
on the night of the affair, but the image
of the headstones do haunt me some.
