Willow, do you think it might be nice to do like Theme Thursday does and post the prompt on Thursday but the linky on Tuesday (or Monday)?Only the first people on the list always get more comments, and I sometimes miss people towards the end of the list. I think a lot of people like to meditate on the prompt and wait to write it for a while (I like to do that) but somehow I feel in competition to post it quickly. That might just be me though...I haven't been around for over a month...dunno what happened. I had been going for a record on stamina and determination... :)
I'm actually on the ball this week and ready to write and I come up with this sad sad tale? I look forward to reading the others hopefully some one makes it a happier occasion. As always thank you everyone for sharing and reading.
I'm sorry, what I meant to say, was how much I enjoy your prompts.
I dont think it is a competition-sometimes I'm early, sometimes I'm late- it really makes no difference to me...I like the spontanity of it all and usually try to write quickly (as I am the impulsive one!) I read everyone's posts-early or late and comment my feelings-pretty consistently as that is only good manners.(according to how I was raised-not making a statement as if this is the rule) Oh bother as Pooh would say- hope I havent rambled on too much! I love Magpie Tales regardless and would be sad if it changed too much.
I enjoyed this prompt, beautiful photograph.
Aoife, most times, I'm not one of the first on the list, since I have to wait for my muse to get off the sofa! Magpie seems to be running fairly smoothly so far. I don't feel a competitive spirit here at all, but rather a positive spirit of excitement. I also try to make it around to read all the entries. How does everyone else feel about this?
I'm usually one of the later ones to post, and that's ok with me. I like it that way because then I have a whole list of others to read from!
I love checking in when I have a spare minute ... doesn't matter the order ~ I read all of them! I'm up and running with this week.
I've only been participating for a short time, but I don't feel like it's a competition. I write when it comes to me. I do visit and read everyone's posts, though I don't always comment. And I check back later in the week to see the later posts. I do enjoy opening my blog to comments on my Magpie post all week.

Omgosh I hope it will not become competative, that would destroy the spirit of the whole idea.I love reading all the very different stories and the wonderful poems and marvel that from the same prompt there can be so many different takes on it. Thank you Willow for such a great idea.Christine
I anxiously await the Magpie prompt. If I post earlier it's because I've been chomping at the bit! :)
I vote for leaving the Magpie as is. We all write when we can & visit other blogs when we can, comment when we can, but not to our own undoing.
Ooops. I goofed on my first link, Willow. Could you delete it for me? Thanks, mate!
And I say, leave Maggie the way it is. I sometimes post early, sometimes very late, but I enjoy it either way and try to get around to reading all the writers' works.
Got ya covered, Mr. C! :)
More Shakespeare this week, Willow. Your fault! You know I can't control myself when the prompt -- er -- prompts me. :-)
Had a quick bit of silly fun with this one....I agree with others: Magpie is fine as is. Rick
lovely prompt,posted mine...Thanks for reading!:)
So glad Dana decided to join in the fun! Her first Magpie is amazing!
Mine is up. I hope everyone enjoys it. :-)
Magpie has become a bit of a compulsion for me. Each week I wonder who I'll meet in my mind. I don't think of competing because there are far too many people far more adept with words than me. If I thought of it as a competition I'd turn tale and run.For me it's a learning exercise. Nothing more.
I'm so glad I found this group! The encouragement from others has been really uplifting. I know I can't read all 100 of them, so I just randomly click around the list. I've met some amazing writers in this group. It always surprised me how varied the posts are. Thanks for hosting, and thanks for this opportunity to hone my craft with constructive criticism from others.
I have to admit that I find I look forward to Thursday evenings - not a competitve streak but because I love reading what everyone else has written! I try to everyones and leave comments. Now you know why I don't have a TV!
I'm playing again this week. :)
I can't say what should or shouldn't be since I post rarely. I'm just glad you leave the prompts, Willow. Mine's nonfiction this week. Hope that's okay.
hey everyone, it sure is getting crowded around here! so cool, more tales...bring it!
I'll get me coat!
Willow, I'm soooo late!! I thought you were going to post this a bit late today like how you used to. Nevermind. This is my favorite photo in the magpie tales album. It actually speaks something I couldn't say about my theme in writing poems. As everyone can notice most of previous photos include lovely details-- I mean things that are fashioned by human beings -- but this one and the other recent photo have something which Time perfects. The bucket is a stunning contrast to wildlife, but not too for it has already rust its cage (but rusting has its own value). That is how I thought of the image you've taken while I was writing my entry. Thank you for sharing.
At first when the number of people posting Magpie Tales almost doubled from the original prompts, it seemed like the atmosphere changed too. But now I can see that it is as close and supportive as ever. Thank you for commenting and changing my mind :)
This watering can, can't. The leaves of a planthave made it liable to remain non-viable.It appears to be lostand shows signs of rust, which, thanks to neglect, is what you'd expect.
thought I would give it a whirl this week
I like how these images make me think and ponder... It's a good awakening process. Thanks to the creator of Magpie for bringing us together in such a cool fashion!
Oops! I added my name BEFORE completing my post. Sorry about that. I'll try to do better in future. Post will be ready soon.
I agree that having to go back later to find the linky is kind of a buzz-kill. I liked Theme Thursday better before they changed it.
I like doing the Magpie Tales each week (even though I just started) I like to think about it for a bit before I post. When I have a moment I go to the link list and randomly pick out names to read. I wish I had time to read each and every one. Thanks for making this so much fun, everyone!
A word please! If it wasn't for the Prompts, my brain would just be rattling around on Thursdays. So thank you again Ms.Willow, for all the inspiration..and NO CONTEST! Self-expression and delight in the vast array of talent!!
I'm here again, with another Magpie post.
There's a crack in earth's watering can...
The prompt this week was perfect as I could build from last week's poem "Through the Door" and continue the story.
I believe we each have a silent place deep within that yearns for sanctuary. Your last sentence eloquently exposed that area.
alright, i am in...
I really like these exercises... stirs up the mind, in a good way.
I have finally found the place to post a comment. I am a bit slow, sorry dahlings.I love the Magpie forum. I feel very supported and not at all competitive. I truly enjoy that aspect. I believe this forum is going to be a great way for me to challenge myself to write in different genres. I look forward to reading other peoples Magpies, and do find myself eagerly looking forward to what others experiences with my work has been. I find I want to write my piece first, then read others work. That may change, but for now, it works for me.Thank you all.
Sorry I posted twice, I did not realize I had to copy and paste the new url every post. Still trying to get the hang of things as I am not a digital native.
This is my first attempt at Magpie Tales.
I'm a frequent reader of lots of the Magpie Tales regulars but this is my first ever! I thought it was time to join in. It was fun! I will be back. :-)
Mine's up -- I will check out the others later.
Thanks for the prompt. I like your photo, but substituted a photo of a watering can that's been in my wife's family for many years. Thanks for the service that you give all of us who participate.
Willow thank you again for a wonderful prompt....love Magpie just as it is! It is awesome, and making me get off my lazy chair, and write! Thank you!! :-)
Lovely prompt, Willow, I am really enjoying the Magpie tales and love reading everyone elses.
Hey Magpies! Sounds to hot to think, but I can still write with fingers sliding from the keyboard. My hub said my poem was "strange" and I laughed. Why not? I only lost 100 neurons with the heat (a conservative estimate!). My opinion on the posting on Thursday well I am slow in this heat so it took me til Sat to post. If I dont get any feedback, well I figure it's do to the fact the heat made me "strange" and I'm ok with that!
Back to continue my Maggie's tomorrow!
Great prompt to keep me going with my mystery storyline. I was completely stumped as to where I was going next with it. It's been a busy weekend so i was a little delayed in getting going with it. Hope you all like it! :)
observations on a Sunda morning.rel
What a terrific prompt! There were so many directions I could see myself taking with it. I look forward to reading what other writers have come up with. This time, I also combined your meme with Monkey Man's 160 character challenge.
Sorry! I don't know how I ended up with 10 links - I swear I only ENTERed once.
now here's a prompt I thought didn't inspire me at all - turns out it did! :) Thank you!
My first time at Mag Tales, have been wonderfully inspired by Ruth, and thank you for this opportunity to share more of my first love.
I love the idea of these prompts. Thanks for putting these out there.
I do use my watering can as my driveway is too long for my hoses. I keep it by the last barrel that my hoses reach. I think a lot while I water.
The Bickers have a decision to make...
Needed to do some research on this one but it was still more fun than my Psychology paper. :)
My first magpie attempt...
Inspiring as ever! Thank you willow!
A lame attempt :-(http://thetinywindow.wordpress.com/2010/08/09/parched/
Your way of setting this up is great, I wouldn't have a Monday post if it weren't for Magpie Tales. And with so many followers, I have a lot of exploring to do. Very cool!My newest Magpie is up right now, see you soon.
Willow I see what he is saying, but one week I start at the bottom and one week the top and just skip around to try to always include someone I have never read before. I think it is great the way it is. Sometimes it hits me when I first see the prompt and sometimes I need to think. Again I like it like it is. Thanks for your work on it.QMM
Okay, Willow, you lured me in with the gardening shot! Although I am forcing my pen to take a little break, I cannot pass up an opportunity to contribute something when Mother Nature is involved....thank you...- Dina
Dear Willow,This is my first attempt at a Magpie Tale and it was lots of fun. It was a beautiful experience to just let whatever creative idea popped into my head have it's expression. Thanks for this opportunity.PG
I hadn't planned to play this week, since life is crowding in on my writing time. But I've read some of the entries, and I couldn't help but be inspired. So I'm up here.
Hey Willow! This is a fantastic prompt site you've got here! Thought I would give it a go this week...I saw the picture and all I could think of was garden...garden...and then the garden from the hotel my husband and I stayed at on our honeymoon. Thank you for sparking a great memory for me! :)
Greetings to all Magpiers :)This was a super fabulous prompt.. it got me thinking in many directions...but somehow my mind settled on this... Hope you like it.. Have a beautiful green week!!!
I loved this prompt. I'm late in the game with posting - I know that - so I can't really fess up about whether or not people will comment. Questions from a Watering Can.
i love having a reason to be creative and write. i do it for me alone and if someone stumbles into my blog and comments then that's all good. i try to get around to a good number of the posts but never in a competitive way. it's just fun to see how people are inspired. thanks for the motivation and inspiration, willow!
This is my first Magpie tale. I was truly inspired by the watering can photo. Thanks for being such a gracious hostess, Willow.
This is my first Magpie tale, too. Must be a Teresa thing. This is a great creative activity! Thanks for hosting it.
I'm not sure that mine truly qualifies--and it's awfully close to the deadline (again), but it's up. Thank you for doing this: it is challenging, and it is giving me discipline.
very close to the deadline, or did i shoot past it? :-oanyways.. m new here :D glad to join in..!
Just my two-cents on the ideas started by Aoife.Troxel and furthered by others... Magpie Tales has indeed grown!! (Way to go Willow! It demonstrates your skills at throwing a party.) I do try to visit everyone, but some weeks it's just not possible, and some weeks it's just not possible to do a magpie. If that's the case I visit my old 'faithfuls' and those that are now among my regular reads, and I really try to find some new bloggers each week. That's what it's all about anyway isn't it? I appreciate the magpie hits each week, but for me the real reward is the community that's developed, and the creative exploration - seeing how darned creative you all are inspires me!

I find myself unable to remember such a simple thing as HOW to place a photo on my site (such as your magpie logo) and have it be a link-back to this site.
I missed the Tuesday cut-off time. My bad. Sorry.
