Somehow this image spoke some secret, some mystery! I ran with that idea!
I apologize for the length and grammar errors, but sometimes you just have to go on the journey the characters take you. Thanks Willow for challenging me.
Sorry, I made a typing error on my first link attempt .... as always, thank you for these wonderful photo prompts.
firecrackers for the 4th of July!!! You have a knack for picking the best prompts for the occassion!rel
Ok, I imagined they were bales of material, hope it works for me.
An older "found haiku" for me, but when I saw the prompt, I couldn't resist. This was one of my favorite finds.
Bridgid, it's whatever you imagine the photo to be! That's one of the beauties of Magpie Tales.Helen, don't worry I'll fix your linky thing! :)
Hey, I'm here early this week! So excited to see what everyone comes up with for this one.
I've always had a different approach to your challenges, willow. I hope my attempt for this didn't go beyond the idea of the image presented. Thank you for this new challenge. Goodluck everyone!
Your photos always elicit strong feelings for me, Willow. This one is strong since I do recall the times of the Cold War and its level of fear, even in the Midwest. It seemed like lives were fuller then and experiences more vivid since the threat of war was still with us all. Thank you for such a wonderful photo.
Another inspiring picture and yet another time for me to shirk my work so that I can write down the thoughts swirling in my head...
The Jaded Heart beats once again. My computer was kaput for 29 days. I just got it back three days ago. I am so ready to roll up my sleeves and get back to work. :)
Okay, I'm up. I cheated just a teensy bit and used a piece from last year. SHH!! Don't tell!!
Glad to be here...missed you guys in busy life last week. Happy Fourth US writers! Be safe.
The Bickers. It's Explosive.
Wow this one held a lot of emotional baggage for me! My son was supposed to be born on the 4th of July this year, but my water broke on Feb 18th. I was 20 weeks along...I stayed on bed rest and refused to abort...even with risk to my own life. Isaiah was born on March 8th and lived for 10 days...sadly he passed away on March 18th. Like a firecracker he came into our lives...in a loud and big way and like a firecracker he fizzled out passing away...leaving burn marks in our hearts and souls.
Read Chrissy comment--you have my prayers Chrissy..I was just going to say I have mine posted and Happy 4th to all....bkm

I was hard pressed to write on this one, so pardon my simplicity. It should have been easy given the photo subject and the holiday.

July 4th, 2010...here's to another colorful boom! I haven't written a poem in over a week, and was feeling very disconnected from the writing community - what a beautiful prompt to come back to. Thanks Willow.- Dina
I wasn't sure what the photo was, but it told me this story. My offering is up here.
Happy 4th to all! Once agian thank you Willow for a wonderful promt! :-)
So glad I discovered this today, Carrie!Thank you - I look forward to MORE !! :D
A little late on this call, but Oooh! what a subject! :)
Is it ok if the fire crackers figure into the story in discriptions only
As I read some others take on the picture, I guess it was of firecrackers. That I didn't recognize them as such probably says something about my upbringing. Always figured I was deprived somehow... ;-)
I posted a TRUE story!
hey willow--hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Love the idea of working from an image rather than just a selection of words. Really enjoyed looking at the picture and finding a way to express something, anything! Can't wait for the next one
I think I messed up posting my URL to the poem - it's entitled "Mettle":http://lazylinerazmattazz.wordpress.com/2010/07/06/mettle/sorry for any confusion - plus I can't submit my URL to show who I am as keeps saying it included illegal characters?!
Blogger's got a problem today with posting comments...OY! My daughter's in from NY, so I'll be out shopping till I drop today. Will be making it around to all your blogs soon!
