Hello Tess! This is such an interesting prompt for it has opened a new shape for a sonnet i wrote many a year ago that i happened to forget along with the very first blog i made (now defunct..) Thanks for the inspiration and memories.(:
Tess, thank you so much for this prompt. It is very meaningful to me. Funny, it inspired me to write about my father. I skewed all of the facts a bit. Facts such as 1. There was no other woman. 2. Mummy worked in London during the Blitz and had not yet met Pup. They lived long happy lives together. 3. He was however stationed at Chelveston. I have two scrapbooks of my mothers time working for the OWI (the US goverment propaganda wingfor the war) in London during the Blitz. Just like the men of war, she never shared a thing about her experiences. I never really knew that she was there. I know that I am meant to write a book about it.
What a lovely image, can only imagine her story. I actually own a couple of similar "homeless" photographs, long forgotten in an antique store, and too lovely to be lost in a pile of long forgotten images. I call them "adopted" family! Thanks for the wonderful prompt!
I participated by mistake! Here I thought I was being bad ass by stealing inspiration from your pic as posted on Willow Manor. Only to find out it was an officially sanctioned Magpie installment.
Oh, where did you find that photo of Latrice? I have been wanting to tell the saga of Latrice Williams for weeks! And now I have. Thanks for the prompt.
Tess, I had a lot of trouble with Google tonight, and although I commented on every submission up until now (midnight, Mountain Time) I suspect some of them didn't get through. Google kept wanting me to set up my own blog, promising me it would be free. Well, duh. So I just wanted to say this week's prompt was fabulous. So much real emotion came out of it. — K

A beautiful photograph. I have been crazy busy all week but this photograph which bears an amazing resemblance to my late grandmother in her youth, has been haunting me. I so wanted to write something. Time didn't allow but today whilst I was cooking lunch I remembered the first poem I wrote after years of not writing. It seemed appropriate. 'But Do You Know Me?' is up and lunch is late!!
this was a great photo prompt! Thanks Tess!
ReplyDeletehaunting photo, thanks, Joan T

Something tells me I've told this story before. But what the hell, it's good enough for a rerun.
ReplyDeleteEarly this week! And I don't know why...prompt did tweak something...maybe a memory?
