  4. Tess, this one is fiendish! (But thanks all the same.)

  5. Either I'm losing my touch or you are making it more difficult...thanks for the challenge.

  6. In the picture it seems to be a she entering from another dimension or standing in a doorway deciding which way to go.
It is a wrapped present in a way that I find quite disturbing, but I see on Wikipedia that the photographer was unhappy and trying to speak. Well, leave it to us! We give her voices.

  7. Touch of the nightmares with this pictures - best taken in small doses, I find...

  8. If you listen carefully you can hear the waves of moaning

  11. I don't think I can post a Magpie at the moment - too much disaster in the area where I live for me to concentrate. Perhaps later. Gorgeous picture though.

  14. I have spent the last few hours discovering the immense talent of this young woman ... thank you Tess.

  15. We sunk to the depths of the ocean with this one, but then what do you expect when you prompt us with the naked shell lady?

  16. I can't wait to return tonight and read everyone's take on the picture!

  17. Fascinating story to this young artist's life.

  19. For the record, Tess, I find this sort of image offensive and uninspiring. It's hard to write when I'm looking over my shoulder to be sure the family can't see the screen. I look forward to prompts that leave more to the imagination of the talented writers who flock here.

  20. Wonderful photograph ... really a challenge to write a poem about, or in my case, haiku.

  21. it is a very intense photo.. but the nudity doesn't bother me... it isn't vulgar in content. My daughter is a visual artist in highschool at a college setting.. her junior year she painted nude models, female and male. I guess we are a bit more used to it. But I understand some are not. My 10 year old daughter saw this and just said "yuck'. ha. I found this artists work, though, very disturbing. Supposedly she wasn't depressed when she died, but I don't know... I think you picked the most interesting photo of all her work, though. :)

  23. Thank you Tess for bringing such a fertile subject of another artistic genius who sadly left too soon. So much depth of life and death, she shared, all the while searching for the end of the woods!

  24. It's fascinating to read the range of responses to your more...er...challenging prompts, Tess. What a cultural spectrum we all inhabit! For what it's worth, I've always agreed with Keats in his belief that the function of poetry is to examine and communicate both beauty and truth.

  25. Interesting image, Tess. My thoughts took a turn to the darker side with this. Of course, its all a matter of perspective and speculation...
I have to run out for a bit, but will be back later to comment on the other great poems and stories I know I'll find here!

  36. Hi Tess, very late I'm afraid. Busy, and I found this actually a difficult image to write around. The story of Woodman very sad, but I finally just went to sillier direction. k.
